"Let's have some fun ranking popular dental treatments.

"Silver diamine fluoride? Seven. It works, but it's not a cure. Make sure you follow up.

"Xylitol gum? Four. Look out, cavity creeps, but you might get a sore jaw if you're chewing too much gum.

"No-prep veneers? Two. It's lazy and expensive.

"Fluoride varnish? Nine. It's effective, it's better than foam, and it's fun to apply.

"In-office whitening? Three. Take home gels and trays are very effective. Don't clog your chair.

"Charcoal toothpaste? Two. It's an abrasive optical illusion.

"Rubber dam? 10. It's the best dental invention that also happens to be more than 160 years old.

"Oil pulling? One. This is such a silly thing to do. You get one point if you're making the effort to do it as directed.

"Now, let's get back to work."
