Henry Schein and Special Olympics have extended their partnership through 2030, continuing a collaboration focused on expanding health screenings, as well as education and wellness resources, for athletes with intellectual disabilities at Special Olympics events worldwide.
The partnership, which began in 2018, entails a donation from Henry Schein of oral health and medical care products for the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes program. Since 1997, Healthy Athletes has delivered more than 2 million free health screenings and trained more than 300,000 healthcare professionals and students to treat people with intellectual disabilities.
The donations support nine Healthy Athletes disciplines, including dentistry, podiatry, audiology, and mental health, along with the pediatric Healthy Young Athletes program.
Henry Schein recently donated healthcare products for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis, which has drawn about 3,000 athletes, 1,500 coaches, 10,000 volunteers, and 75,000 fans.
Kyle Guerin, director of corporate social responsibility for Henry Schein Cares, said the renewed partnership reflects the company's belief that everyone deserves access to better health and well-being. Dr. Dimitri Christakis, Special Olympics' chief health officer, said long-term partnerships, such as the one with Henry Schein, are essential to improving health outcomes for people with intellectual disabilities.
The donations are part of Henry Schein Cares, the company's global citizenship program, which marks its 25th anniversary this year.
