Ivoclar has launched Adhese 2, a universal adhesive that combines light- and dual-curing capabilities in a single product. Ivoclar announced in a press release that it is the first adhesive that can be applied directly from the VivaPen in dual-cure mode without a separate activator, using a new blue DC cannula.
Compatible with all etching techniques and both light- and dual-curing composites, Adhese 2 delivers bond strengths greater than 25 MPa on enamel and dentin regardless of etching protocol, according to Ivoclar. The adhesive offers high moisture tolerance for consistent adhesion on dry or moist dentin, along with an integrated desensitizing effect to help reduce postoperative sensitivity.
With an ultrathin film thickness of about 10 μm, Adhese 2 is designed to support a precise fit for indirect restorations and seamless integration for direct restorations, Ivoclar said. The VivaPen delivery system allows for controlled, material-saving application, providing up to four times more single-tooth applications per ml than traditional bottle systems, per Ivoclar.
Georg Musil, global commercial product manager at Ivoclar, said the addition significantly expands the clinical range of applications dentists can cover with a single adhesive.
