Kuraray Noritake Dental Inc. has announced that Katana Zirconia One Speed can be sintered in approximately eight minutes when used with the preheating function built into the CEREC SpeedFire furnace, down from the standard nine-minute cycle.
When the function is activated, the furnace preheats to approximately 400° C before sintering begins. To use it, clinicians select the preheat function on the SpeedFire screen and confirm that it is active. Once the furnace reaches the target temperature, the zirconia can be sintered in about eight minutes. The feature requires CEREC System version 5.2.13 or 5.3.3 or later.
"For clinicians incorporating same-day zirconia into their practices, every step of the workflow matters," said Maurice Munoz, director of Kuraray's North America Dental Division.
Munoz added that Katana Zirconia One Speed was developed around the need for speed, efficiency, and aesthetics. The preheating function offers another opportunity to make an already efficient workflow even faster, according to Kuraray.
