15 Minutes to Excellence: Financial options for new dentists

August 20, 2013 -- For a young dentist just starting out, there is so much to learn beyond what they gleaned during four years of dental school -- especially when it comes to the business of dentistry.

Should you buy a practice, start one from scratch, or become an associate? What about joining a corporate dental chain or going into public health dentistry? And what to do about those dental school loans in the process?

In this episode of "15 Minutes to Excellence," Keith Drayer of Henry Schein Financial Services shares his thoughts on how new dentists can optimize their career and financial choices and set themselves up for success in the process.

"In dental schools everywhere, students are focusing primarily on clinical aspects and passing the boards," Drayer said. "With so many new clinical demands in dental school, less time is available to give business classes and teach students about human resources, as well as all of the challenges and opportunities that come with running your own business."
